When we think of berries, we don’t really focus on what the definition of a real berry is. What may surprise you is that many fruits, like the strawberry, that are commonly called berries aren’t really berries. However, for the sake of common knowledge about what berries are and what they aren’t, we are just going to look at what many people think of when someone mentions a berry! As mentioned earlier, strawberries don’t actually fit into the botanical definition of a berry. However, people see them as berries. They are one of the most popular fruits for its flavor and aroma. However, a strawberry is more than just flavor! It is rich in vitamin C, antioxidants, potassium, various B vitamins, vitamin K, magnesium, riboflavin, healthy fatty acids, copper, and folic acid. There is no doubt that strawberries should be included in one’s diet.

Blueberry

Blueberries are berries by definition, unlike strawberries. Blueberries are one of the best natural sources of antioxidants are are also rich in many vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Blueberries are great for getting over sickness, which is usually associated with oranges. However, blueberries definitely hold there ground when it comes to healing capacity compared to an orange.

Here are just a few of the many that you should focus on with your nutrition: blackberries, cherries, cranberries, grapes, tomatoes, and the avocado (yes, it’s a berry!). Some of those that I listed don’t fit the definitely of a berry, including cherries and blackberries, but they are generally considered berries by the average person, so it is only right to mention them. If we were going by the real definition, we would also include things like: bananas, pumpkins, and watermelon, all of which are berries by definition.

There is no limit to what berries can do for your health. Just do a quick search and find out what berries suit your needs the best and add them to your diet. Many people lack berry intake in their nutritional plans, so adding them is a definite must if you are pursuing the best overall health possible!
