Put On Your Best Face!

Looking young

Some days you feel refreshed, rested, and ready to face the day. However, some days you don’t, and this can make you look older than you actually are! Thankfully, there are many things you can do before you step out the door to help you look rested and younger, so you look better and feel better about yourself with little time, effort, or expensive products! Here are some tips and tricks that will keep people from ever guessing that you spent the night tossing and turning, or that your skin has one more wrinkle than it did a few days ago!

Easy Tricks for Women:

Shimmer is your friend. Anything with a little shine to it – a shimmery cream or foundation, or a pretty shimmer eyeshadow, can help give you a boost on the days when you feel or look less than your best. The particles that help give these products their shimmery quality reflect the light and give you a radience that masks dullness. Also, an eyeshadow with a little shimmer can help eyelids look a little tighter, giving you a youthful boost.

Learn to love those lips. Frustrated by those tiny lines around your mouth that make you look older or frown-y? Don’t put on precise lipstick. The hard line between your lips and skin is accentuated by a line of lipstick and will cause people to take more notice of those little lines. You can also try outlining your lips with a clear lipliner and then applying lipstick inside the lines. This will help your lipstick stay on your lips and not bleed out into the fine lines around the lips. Also, color counts. Putting on a rose colored lipstick will help brighten up your lips, while a nude tone will cause your skin to look lifeless.

Less Is More! You may be tempted to overcompensate for tired skin or puffy eyes by laying on a thick layer of makeup like a mask. This can actually have the opposite effect! Try using less foundation or concealer…in this case, a little dab’ll really do you. Keep your skin moisturized and fresh with a good face cream and an exfoliant, and then apply a thin layer of foundation. Avoid heavy blush or eyeshadow, as it will settle during the day and end up making the lines and wrinkles stand out.

There’s help for men, too:

While rugged good looks are in, haggard is not. If you have an important client to meet, or if you’re trying to look refreshed and ready for that night out, there’s plenty you can do. If you have a few minutes, a power nap may help you feel like you can tackle anything that comes your way. Just be sure to keep it to 10-20 minutes, or you’ll spend the rest of the day feeling groggy. Also, a moisturizer will do wonders, and is not just for the ladies. Applying a moisturizer made just for men will help make wrinkles appear less noticible and help with lines, and even scars, too.

Getting plenty of sleep, eating the right foods and exercising can help you maintain a youthful look and feel for the long term, but if you’re needing a pick-me-up just for a day, these tips can help you achieve the look you want. An added bonus, once you see that healthy, younger glow in the mirror, you’ll probably feel better too!
