Metabolic effects of a homeopathic formulation of growth hormone (somatomedin-C) in older adults.

Human Growth HormoneActive ingredients: "Hypophysis extract" (Hypophysinum) potentized to 30X, Human Growth Hormone (hGH) potentized to 30X and bovine liver extract 3X. Growth Hormone Releasing Hormone, (GHRH). Somatostatin: Somatotroph Release Inhibiting Factor (SRIH).

Background

There are some anatomical, functional and hormonal changes that appear with aging among them a decrease in the activity of the Hypothalamus Axis - Hypophysis - Liver (GHRH - GH - IGF-I), which contributes to a decrease in the liver's production of Somatomedin-C; therefore, an increase in excess fat and a decrease in lean body mass. It is possible to revert the decrease in activity of this axis with a homeopathic formulation of growth hormone.

Methods

21 adult patients between 45 and 86 years of age were divided into three groups and studied. Initially, all patients" plasmatic levels of Somatomedin-C were measured, their excess body fat calculated, blood chemistry analyzed, lipids profiled, functional hepatic tests administered and their immunoglobulin levels measured. Group 1 was treated for 5 months with 15 drops, 3 times a day orally with 21st Century HGH (homeopathic formulation of growth hormone); Group 2 also received 21st Century HGH in the same way. In addition, 15 drops 3 times a day orally of HE (homeopathic formulation of dried beef liver) were added during the 5 months of treatment; Group 3, the control group, was treated with a placebo.

Materials and methods

21 healthy adult subjects of both sexes between the ages of 45 and 86 years were studied, who were randomly assigned to one of three different groups. At the beginning of the study, a clinical history of all patients was performed and blood samples were taken for blood chemistry studies which included: blood glucose, urea, creatinine and uric acid; lipids profile: total cholesterol, cholesterol HDL, cholesterol LDL, triglycerides and atherogenic index; hepatic function tests: glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase, glutamic pyruvic transaminase, alkaline phosphatase, lactic dehydrogenase, bilirubin; immunoglobulins: IgG, IgA and IgM. Also determined were plasma levels of iron, calcium, amylase and somatomedin-C and excess body fat was calculated.

Somatometry data and the above-mentioned laboratory exams were repeated 5 months after the study was concluded. The homeopathic formulation of GH used, is known as 21st Century HGH and its active ingredients are "Hypophysis extract" (Hypophysinum) potentized to 30X and Human Growth Hormone (hGH) potentized to 30X.

In homeopathy, there are two types of potencies that indicate to us how laboratory homeopathic preparations are made. One is a decimal potency, denoted by an "X" (10) and the other is a centesimal potency, denoted by a "C" (100). A decimal potency is prepared as follows:

Lyophilic GH 1 part

Purified water (LISP) / Ethanol at 47.5% (at equal parts) 9 parts

The mixture of alcohol and purified water is combined with GH and is manually agitated 10 times. With this technique we obtain a potency of 1X, which is known as the "First Attenuation". Then 1 part of this "First Attenuation" is combined with 9 parts of the purified water and alcohol mixture (previously mentioned) and again is agitated by hand 10 times, obtaining the potency of 2X. The process of dilution and agitation is continued until a potency of 30X is obtained (30X potency). The same technique is carried out with the dried hypophysis extract (Hypophysinum) until it has been potentized to 30X. 21st Century HGH contains hGH 30X and hypophysis extract 30X. The homeopathic preparation of HE is a dried beef liver extract potentized to 3X.
